What are you looking for, my brother, my sister?
I am willing to bet that you don’t spend a whole lot of time reading the Bible, so you really don’t know who Jesus is. Here is what I read this morining and I thought you would be interested in hearing his heart, because He is speaking to the so-called righteous but He about us. Oh, and by the way, He is talking about the End of Times, which the righteous, etc., don’t seem to perceive as just on the horizon. Even if you are not used to reading long passages of scripture, stick with this one:
“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’”[Matt.25:31-40 NKJV]
Who is there for you? Jesus is. Who cries for you? Jesus does? Who sent His servants out to help you? Jesus did? There are good people wherever you are you can speak to you and help you and feed you if you are cold and hungry. If you ask them to, they can visit you in prison, but you have to ask.
I’m not talking about the physical needs right now though. I am talking about the hole in your heart. You are an Outcast because nobody loves you. And if you get caught feeling sorry for yourself, they ram that fact home even harder.
Face it. We are all in prison, the prison of ourselves. That is the prison Jesus is reaching in to. I know this without a doubt, and He is calling to you right now. Do you have anything to lose by reaching out to take His hand.
Oh, but you say, how can He possiblty be here when He died 2000 years ago, blah, blah, blah? Listen to yourself.
Jesus never died. Or rather, He died but it was a temporary thing, and that is the really cool part, because He defeated death, hell and the grave. And He did it all for you. That is why, right now, in the place where you are sitting, in your dispair and loneliness, you can see Him in front of you. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever [Hebrews 13:8 NKJV]. He is reaching out to you.
You may have hangups about religion. Jesus had a lot of those same issues–they got Him killed, in fact. You may have father issues that have caused you to shake your fist at God–I have been there. God is big enough to take it. None of those things are important. Let them fall away.
Take His hand. Accept that He is there for you. He wants to heal your heart and save you, not only from what comes after but from what is here, from what you are living through right now. I know because He saved me and He is no respecter of persons. What He did for me, He will do for you. Take a chance. Pray this prayer with me:
Lord Jesus, you are reaching your hand out to me. I don’t deserve it. I am such a sinner. But I will take your hand, if you will forgive me of my sins and set me free. I am so sorry for the things I have done that were unworthy of your love. And yet you love me. I can see the love in your eyes. I know you love me.
Show me the way to go from here, Lord, so that I can learn of you, so that I can be your faithful servant on this earth today. I want to be a sheep, Lord, and not a goat, when the final accounting comes. In Your Most Holy Name I pray, Amen.
